This is the site and date of the 3rd annual New York City World Pillow Fight Day. Inspired by the 1999 Film “Fight Club”, cities around the world have adopted an annual ritual of friendly fighting with pillows. The rules of THIS fight club? Tell EVERYONE you know about Pillow Fight! Let’s take a closer look…

I must say, it was very gratifying to wedge yourself in a sea of people, arms raised, pillow in hand, tapping each person that surround you on the head. I refrained from swinging or slamming my 3×3 couch cushion/pillow in fear of receiving the same, although there were plenty of full-fledged “friendly” blows amongst some goers. It was an amazing experience and luckily for those who missed it this year, this happens every year in NYC and across the country and world (Boston, Budapest, Chicago, Copenhagen, London, Paris, Shanghai, San Francisco, Melbourne, Sydney, Vancouver, and Washington, DC.) I hear next year’s date will be changed and you will have a chance to vote for your date of choice by visiting the official site.
Islandwoo Tips to make your experience a little better: bring soft pillows (feels better when hit by it), take off layers (it gets HOT in the middle of the mix, with everyone generating heat), feel free to hit bystanders (even though these are just curious tourists or those who didnt get the memo, you’ll make them feel like they’ve participated in the experience), do not clean off the feathers (and be the conversation piece for the rest of the day)

this year was my first time joining in on the pillow fight. it was crazy fun! at the end of the day, i survived an elbow to the head, a knock to the nose, and a million swings. but through it all, i still felt the love. thanks for your post and shout out to the event. look forward to future event posts.
